Peek-a-boo,
Guess who! :)
Hey guys! We have been M.I.A for the last few months, soaking
in some European love. Its crazy cause usually in the winter
months we go into hibernation. We snuggle up at the house,
finish up some house hold “funzies” that we can't
get at when we are touring mad. And get all fat and happy....hehe.
I mean we are in the north country. We are taking on what
the bears do right? No complaints. But this winter we got
slammed. World travellers. All and all I really don't think
we knew what to expect. I mean we hear so much about Europe,
and being Canadian we are so heavily influenced by Europeans.
But that ABSOLUTELY doesn't compare to the things we had experienced
while being there. We, starting in an endearing little town
in Germany called Untermeitingen, experienced the Auto-bon......180km/hr.
Mad!, saw Walt Disney's muse Bavaria's Neuschwanstein castle,
broke down and were humbled (that is an understatement) by
the holocaust memorial in Berlin, and soaked in the art, livelihood,
and SHOPPING of Hamburg. Overall the sights, sounds, and landscapes
of Germany were mind-blowing...and the people were warm, and
so hospitable. It was more than I could ever show in pictures
or describe in person. If granted I would encourage all of
you to try and get there. Our second trip was to Zurich Switzerland....We
had a bit more time to venture out and sight see the Alps,
and the city. It is gorgeous and EXPENSIVE. But the shows
were so much fun, and the food was incredible, and the coffee
was to die for! I am running out this month and buying an
espresso machine. That is how fantabulous it was;) The worse
part of the trip......the travel. We literally were up and
in transit back and forth for 22hours each way....It wipes
you right out. And everyone has their own theories but the
jet leg you experience coming home, for me, was worse than
going. I literally for two days walked around like a zombie.
You wouldn't have liked to see me those days...Grrrr..hehe!
But seriously that was the ONLY flip side. The wonderful thing
about it, beyond just being a tourist, is the fact that we
had the opportunity to be able to bring our music to people
in different countries, and Europeans LOVE their music. I
can't wait to get back as soon as possible.
Now we are home, we have barely had any downtime, cause we
are finishing small tasks on the home-front, and are preparing
for .....Qu the the drum roll.....the studio to record our
greatest hits and the follow up record to our greatest hits
to be released next year. Lots of music, lots of love, new
pics, new videos.....lots to do! But it is all very very exciting.
We can't wait to sing these new songs, and also be able to
give you the music that made you care about us in the first
place...which we are forever grateful for that love and experience.
Just think to actually be able to purchase songs like 26 Cents,
Jimmy's Got a Girlfriend, Fly, Boy Oh Boy again, where they
haven't been available for a very long time. Its also going
to be tons of fun for us. We are going to be able to revisit
these songs that have given us such nostalgic feelings through
out our whole career. Lets have some fun!!!! I will keep you
posted on the release date as it becomes more secure. We will
have major label backing and promoting at the big house of
UNIVERSAL music. So I am sure you can check out their web-site
as well for updates.
.
Due to the overwhelming success of our acoustic series last
year, we are doing encore performances of that nature all
over Canada this year as well.....We are even considering
adding new elements to our live shows that will take on a
more of an inflated deck party feeling. We grew up doing music
where we felt connected with not only the songs we were singing,
but the people sitting next to us listening felt equally as
close. We were all on the same level.....You know pass the
guitar, back porch jam kinda feeling. Magic! I know for me
that is why I decided to do music, because of THOSE similar
experiences I had in my childhood. And that kind of synergy
when sharing music is so important, and sometimes gets lost
in the pyro, and lighting fiascos...Not that there's anything
wrong with that. That might be next year for us~! :) hehe.
We are still doing the raucous, partying, beer-fest festivals
as well this year. SO get on your game faces kids...It will
be a time and a half.
Tyler and MPE are doing really well, making allot of great
friends in the industry and hoping to record their debut this
spring......Check out their web-site for updates and tour
dates in your area. www.motionpictureending.com
I am also in the throws are trying to write my next solo record,
and as soon as details are concrete you will be the first
to know.
Outside of music and travel the family have all been doing
amazing. We have three new little additions to the family
in the short term cause Lucy our black Labrador retriever
delivered three pups on March 18th. Two little roly poly yellow
ones and one chocolate. Three little boys, whats a mother
to do, BUT they are so beautiful and sweet like their mama.
And we are loving the experience of having them in the house
with us. Max our chocolate lab is the best grandpa ever. He
loves them, and waits outside the door all the time just to
get a peak at them. Its so cute.
Ty did not quite have the chance to get in all the snowboarding
he would have liked, but I can speak for the rest of us and
probably alot of other Ontarians, we are tired tired tired
of the white stuff...No more snow. Bring on the spring weather
and flowers. We are all needing it! I know my mom is itching
to get out in the garden. And in our downtime we want to get
outside, go ATVing etc.
We also have taken a couple weeks to check out Nashville and
do some business and writing. The MPE guys came down and showcased
which went over smashingly well (packed house) , and we had
the chance to get out and hear some new music. I am thrilled
to say that their is a small group of kids MAKING music that
you are most DEFINATELY going to hear from in the next year
or so. Wickedly talented! Check out Kingbilly at their myspace.
Kree Harrison and her myspace, and of course my home-girl
Sarah Buxton is coming out with some new jams soon as well.
Also, Tyler and I being huge fans of music and its connection
to fashion. Got out to fashion week festivities in Toronto.
Saw a incredible band from CANADA that are making head way
in the states called Dragonette that were at the Flare magazine
party, and had the chance to see some new run way looks. I
can't wait for the spring lines. So much colour!!!
A couple of weeks ago my best mate Bex, and the boys and I
checked out a gal that is being showcased in ALL the starbucks
right now. Her name is SIA. The show was inspiring. And TRUST
me I don't say that very often. If you get a chance to see
her in your area. Do it!
Well lovelies....just in closing I want to say I am “itchin'
to get out and see all of you....and sing some, and share
some love. Please let us know what you are thinking about
some of the new sites. Ideas are a must, and if by your suggestions
we are able to make the sites better and more accessible for
you....KILLER! Their has not been an Amanda Wilkinson official
MYSPACE since i left Universal South. THEY still have domain
on that site and I have been in the works to try and release
that so I can push forward with a “fresh one”
with new content and new ideas.....so that you aren't seeing
info that was dead like 5 years ago. No fun,and I know that
has to be frustrating for everyone. ! I appreciate the love
and patience. Miss you all.
Big
hugs
the
Wilkinsons
